Get ready to take a musical tour through the regions of Mexico with Marimba Sol de Chiapas! These touring artists of the Mid-America Arts Alliance will be coming to our community to share their knowledge of the marimba, "the wood that sings," and will showcase their talent while four musicians play one instrument, together, at the same time!

Programming at the National Willa Cather's Red Cloud Opera House is made possible with the support of Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.

About Marimba Sol de Chiapas

Marimba Sol de Chiapas is a Missouri Arts Council and Mid-America Arts Alliance-approved Touring Performer with more than thirty years of ensemble highlights ranging from a feature on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition and a cameo appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America, to performing at the art world’s premier event of the Americas—Art Basel Miami. From performances at three International Festivals of the Marimba and events hosted by the Mexican Consul of New Orleans celebrating the Bicentennial of Mexico’s independence from Spain and Centennial of the Mexican Revolution, to several Compact Disc recordings—including Sol’s upcoming release Sunrise. So authentic is their interpretation and approach that the ensemble has toured Mexico on numerous occasions as guests of the Mexican Government.

The National Willa Cather Center is ADA accessible. We offer physical, visual, and audio accommodations for all attendees. If you require handicapped accessible seating, an ASL interpreter, or any other accommodations, please contact our Visitor Services Coordinator, Nick Powers, at npowers@willacather.org. Advance notice is necessary to arrange for some accessibility needs.
