Sketchbook Adventures with Yelena Khanevskaya
Sketchbook Adventures with Yelena Khanevskaya

Do you love art but don't make any yourself? Would you like to explore a new creative outlet with friends? In this program series hosted by the Red Cloud Opera House and National Willa Cather Center in conjunction with the Red Cloud Creative Arts District, adults learn the basics of drawing through sketchbook exercises. Under the guidance of professional artist and art educator Yelena Khanevskaya, participants will be introduced to drawing techniques and prompts that encourage observational and expressive drawing. This workshop series is a Creative Aging Arts Program, funded through a grant program of the Nebraska Arts Council and National Endowment of the Arts.
These skills-focused classes build upon each other to practice and develop a foundation in drawing while building confidence and fostering social connection. At the series' conclusion, the group will exhibit their sketchbooks in the Red Cloud Opera House gallery, alongside Khanevskaya's own exhibition, with a reception open to the public, family, and friends. Thanks to underwriting by NAC, participants will receive necessary supplies at no cost.
