Auld Public Library was contructed in 1917-18 and serves as an excellent representation of Neo-Classical style architecture. The facility was the result of William T. Auld's generous donation to erect the first permanent library for the community. The Library houses over 10,000 volumes as well as videos, DVD movies, and audio books. Wireless internet access is also available.

Baseball and softball are popular pastimes in this community. Illian Field is busy during the season, and you can always find a league to join ranging from t-ball to fast pitch baseball and softball. For information about local leagues, call Jolene Kugler at 402-257-7458. Red Cloud has hosted some of baseballs greats like Cy Young, Dazzy Vance, and Clarence Mitchell to name a few.
Cherry Corner Estates is a retirement living residence that offers service, security, and independence in an assisted living environment. Private apartments are available which allow for the residents’ own furnishings. Personal services include meals, laundry, housekeeping, medication administration, activities, whirlpool bathing, and emergency call system. Financial arrangements include private pay, Assisted Living Insurance benefits, and a limited number of Medicaid approved units.
The City of Red Cloud owns and operates its own utility system that distributes electricity, water ,and wasterwater to homes and businesses in the Red Cloud area. The City is a proud member of ACE (Public Alliance of Community Energy), NMPP Energy (Nebraska Municipal Power Pool), and MEAN (Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska).
A quaint little park on the east edge of town, suitable for picnics and walking pets. A small wildlife preserve is located directly to the north.
Red Cloud's Municipal Airport features 3700 feet of paved, lighted runway. It is named Buster-Lewis Field to honor Gordon Buster and Delbert Lewis whose hard work and dedication is responsible for the fine airport we have today.
The land for the present airport was purchased in 1967 at a cost of $440 per acre. Construction was started that same year. Dale McDole did the dirt work and grading for the runway which was seeded to grass.
The first hanger was built in 1968 by Wilkens Steel Co. of Geneva, Nebraska. The second hanger was built in 1975 by Jack Cline of Franklin, Nebraska.
The runway lights were installed in 1981 by Barta Bros. of Red Cloud. The runway was paved in 1983 by Werner Construction Co. of Hastings, Nebraska.
The large hanger was built in 1989, and was leased to Bill Frost for his crop spraying business. It is now leased to Luke Meyer of Superior.
The snow removal equipment was purchased in 2006. The storage building and the Terminal building was built in 2008.
The precision Area Path Indicator System (PAPPI) was installed in 2009.
Private aircraft storage is available.
The city Recycling Center is located in the metal building south of the Power Plant.

The Red Cloud City Park is a great place for kids to climb on the playground equipment or enjoy a pickup game of basketball. It is also a popular spot for picnics and family get-togethers throughout the spring, summer, and fall. The Red Cloud Chamber of Commerce's Easter Egg Hunt and most Street Car Days activities also take place at the park.
The Red Cloud Community Center features a full kitchen, meeting room, exercise room, gymnasium, and multi-purpose room. The building serves as the perfect venue for many community meetings, sporting events, banquets, and receptions. The shimmering and always refreshing city pool is located in Red Cloud's City Park on Webster Street. With diving boards, slides, a water basketball hoop, and a full staff of lifeguards, the pool is a fun and safe place for everyone. Opens Memorial Day weekend. Red Cloud is fortunate to have a volunteer fire department to serve the city and the surrounding countryside. There are twenty-five volunteer fire fighters on the Red Cloud Fire Department. The fire district extends 8 miles north, 6 miles south, 5 miles east, and 8 miles west of Red Cloud for a total of 182 sq. miles. Several members of the department attend fire school each year to improve their skills and knowledge to better serve and protect the community.
Members of the fire department hold meetings on the first Thursday of each month. In addition to their community service, the Firemen host their annual Soup and Hamburger Feed in March and prepare and serve the popular beef barbeque at the annual Street Car Days celebration.
