Fair Housing Rights in Red Cloud

The City of Red Cloud is a supporter of Fair Housing and supports Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 which prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental and financing of dwellings based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or familial status.  TItle VIII also sets forth the enforcement mechanisms enabling U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development attorneys to bring action before administrative law judges on behalf of victims of housing discrimination; and allowing the Department of Justice to bring suit on behalf of victims in Federal district courts. Furthermore, the City supports the elimination of unlawful discriminatory practices within its jurisdictional boundaries.
