Red Cloud Golf Course

Red Cloud Golf Course

Attraction Information

Putting Green, Chipping Green, Driving Range, Rental Cars, Snack Bar, Bar, Meeting Room, Nebraska Golf Association Member, Pro Shop, No Spikes.

Our community is proud to have the 3rd best 9-hole public golf course in Nebraska. Designed by the late PGA Tour Pro Harry Obitz in 1988, the course boasts elevated greens for quick play after a hard rain. It has a driving range and putting green and offers cart rental and a full clubhouse bar. The Red Cloud Golf Course is fun for players of all levels. Open year round. Located 2 miles east and a ½ mile north of Red Cloud. For more information, call 402-746-2567

"Red Cloud Golf Club is a spunky, hilly layout situated just east of town. Its fairways and greens are in good shape and the rough has been left native, making it tough to negotiate. The course features large raised greens with three to four foot drop-offs on all sides. If you can hit and hold the greens, you should fare well.

Harry Obitz, the designer, made great use of the uneven nature of the terrain. The layout requires accuracy and shot-making skills, especially given the numerous sidehill lies. The tee shot from the blue tee on the sixth is the most interesting on the course. It is completely blind to the fairway. All you can see is a row of evergreens directly in your line.

Red Cloud is highly recommended."

The tour upon which you are to embark is not a complete representation of Red Cloud’s past, but encapsulates only a relatively small amount of information on the subject. It represents over 1,000 hours of recent research and documentation, and borrows from the author’s thousands of hours of previous scholarly investigations related to the town’s rich heritage.

Under the umbrella of a Certified Local Government grant, funding for this project was provided via volunteer hours, monetary contributions from the Red Cloud Community Foundation and the City of Red Cloud, as well as grant support from the National Park Service, and the U. S. Department of the Interior as administered by the Nebraska State Historical Society under provisions of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. Suzi Yost Schulz, a local Red Cloud Historian is responsible for the content of the project.
