RED CLOUD, Neb. (KOLN) - A new hotel in the Webster County seat is giving Willa Cather enthusiasts a luxurious new place to stay while seeing the many attractions in the area.
The Executive Director of the National Willa Cather Center based in Red Cloud, Ashley Olson, said the new Hotel Garber has rich history.
“The Potter-Wright is the old building that was rehabilitated into Hotel Garber,” Olson said. “The hotel takes its name from one of the founders of Red Cloud, which was Silas Garber. Willa Cather used Silas Garber and his wife as models for characters in one of her novels, which is called ‘A Lost Lady’, which was published in 1923.”
The hotel has been in the works for quite a while now.
